In Asian countries like India, where culture dominates the desire and social identity dominates the individual identity. We accept it or not somewhere we all are driven by and want that sense of appreciation from society.
Society in these countries works like a factory that creates almost similar types of products. Machine that is used by it is called socialization. This machine starts working from the first day (sorry even before birth) when your parents select your future profession based on their past failures and aspirations.
This socialization and desire of appreciation inculcated so much in our conscience that most of the people even forget who their real self is. They want to become something in life not because they want it but because they will get appreciation for it.
This socialization problem gets pretty serious when we talk about Indian women. Many or almost all of them treat tolerance of exploitation by husbands as a virtue because from the ancient times they got appreciation for doing that. Now the roots of that socialization is so deep in them that they will debate with you to defend it.
But in this mass production by the society some exceptional products also got produced. They tend to do the things that they want, not what everyone says or appreciates. Society that doesn't want these products worship them afterwards.
So always in life try to find your real self and be you no matter what anyone says
